What is Usability testing?

Usability testing is a method of evaluating a product by watching real or representative users try to complete specific tasks with it, such as placing an order or finding a document. It measures whether people can actually use the design, which is different from asking what they think of it.

Why it matters for your business

Testing exposes confusing flows before launch, when fixes are cheap. Problems found with a handful of users on a prototype cost far less than problems found by customers in production.

Example

Six warehouse staff are asked to log a damaged delivery in a new mobile app prototype, and four of them miss the photo upload button, so it is moved and enlarged.
