What is Streaming data?

Streaming data is information that is generated continuously and processed as it arrives, record by record or in small batches, instead of being collected and loaded on a schedule. Common sources include website clicks, payment events, IoT sensors and application logs.

Why it matters for your business

Processing data as it streams in lets a business react within seconds, for example to block a suspicious payment, restock a fast-selling item or alert staff to an equipment fault.

Example

An online store streams checkout events to a live dashboard and an alerting rule, so the operations team is notified within a minute if failed payments suddenly spike.
