What is Self-service analytics?

Self-service analytics is an approach in which business users explore data and build their own reports and dashboards without asking a data team for each request. It works best when governed, well-modeled datasets are prepared centrally and users get simple tools, such as Power BI, to work with them.

Why it matters for your business

Self-service analytics shrinks the backlog of report requests, lets people answer their own questions faster and frees data specialists to focus on modeling, data quality and harder analysis.

Example

The data team publishes a certified sales dataset, and regional managers build their own Power BI reports from it instead of exporting data to spreadsheets.
