What is Product discovery?

Product discovery is the early phase of a software project where a team works out which problem to solve, for whom, and whether a proposed solution is valuable and feasible. It typically combines stakeholder workshops, user research, technical investigation and prototyping before committing to a full build.

Why it matters for your business

Discovery turns a vague idea into a scoped plan with known risks, which leads to more reliable estimates and avoids paying to build features that do not solve the real problem.

Example

Over three weeks, a distributor and its development partner interview sales reps, review existing ERP data and test a prototype, then agree on the scope of a first release.
