What is OWASP Top 10?

The OWASP Top 10 is a widely used list, published by the nonprofit Open Worldwide Application Security Project, of the most critical security risks in web applications, such as broken access control and injection flaws. It is an awareness guide that teams use as a baseline, not a complete security standard.

Why it matters for your business

Building and testing against the OWASP Top 10 covers the mistakes attackers exploit most often, and many clients and auditors expect vendors to show they address it.

Example

A development team adds OWASP Top 10 checks to its code review checklist and automated scans, catching an unprotected admin endpoint before a new release ships.
