What is Kanban?

Kanban is a method for managing work by visualizing tasks on a board with columns such as To do, In progress and Done, and limiting how many items can be in progress at once. Unlike Scrum, it has no fixed sprints, so work flows continuously as capacity frees up.

Why it matters for your business

Kanban suits ongoing work with unpredictable arrivals, like support requests or small enhancements, because urgent items can be picked up quickly without waiting for the next planning cycle.

Example

A maintenance team handling bug reports and minor changes for a company's web portal uses a Kanban board and limits each developer to two active tickets at a time.
