What is Embeddings?

Embeddings are lists of numbers that represent the meaning of a piece of text, an image or another item, so a computer can measure how similar two things are. Items with similar meaning end up close together, even if they use different words.

Why it matters for your business

Embeddings let your software find related content by meaning rather than exact keywords, which is the foundation of smart search, recommendations and most document-aware AI assistants.

Example

A customer searches a help center for "can't log in" and finds the article titled "Resetting your password", because both have similar embeddings.
