What is Vector database?

A vector database stores embeddings and quickly finds the ones most similar to a query. It is the search engine behind many AI assistants that answer questions from company documents.

Why it matters for your business

Choosing and tuning the right vector store decides how fast and how accurately an AI assistant can pull the right passage from thousands of documents.

Example

An internal assistant holds 20,000 policy pages as embeddings in a vector database and returns the five most relevant passages in under a second.
