What is Context window?

A context window is the maximum amount of text, measured in tokens, that a language model can consider at once, including your instructions, any supplied documents and its own reply. Anything outside the window is invisible to the model, so long inputs must be trimmed, summarized or retrieved selectively.

Why it matters for your business

Context window size affects what a solution can handle in one pass, such as a full contract or a long support history, and filling a larger window usually costs more per request.

Example

A legal team wants to compare two lengthy agreements that exceed the model's window, so the system splits them into sections and retrieves only the clauses relevant to each question.
