What is Containerization?

Containerization is the practice of packaging an application together with its libraries, settings and runtime into a lightweight, portable unit called a container. Containers share the host operating system, so they start faster and use fewer resources than full virtual machines while behaving the same in every environment.

Why it matters for your business

Containers reduce "works on my machine" problems, make deployments repeatable and help teams move applications between laptops, test servers and cloud providers with less rework.

Example

A development team packages its web app and background worker as two Docker containers, so the same images run in local development, staging and production without configuration drift.
