What is Microservices?

Microservices is a way of building software as a set of small, independent services that each handle one part of the business, such as payments or notifications, and talk to each other through APIs. Each service can be changed and deployed on its own.

Why it matters for your business

Microservices let large products scale and change one part at a time, but they add complexity, so they suit growing platforms more than simple apps.

Example

An online marketplace splits search, checkout and messaging into separate services, so a busy sale only scales up checkout.
