What is Staging environment?

A staging environment is a copy of the production setup, with the same configuration, integrations and similar data, where new releases are tested before they go live. It sits between development and production and is where final checks and user acceptance testing usually happen.

Why it matters for your business

Testing in staging catches configuration problems, broken integrations and data issues before customers see them, which lowers the risk and cost of each release.

Example

Before a Business Central upgrade goes live, the finance team runs a month-end close in a staging environment to confirm reports and integrations still work.
