What is REST API?

A REST API is a common style of web API where data is organized as resources, such as customers or orders, and accessed with standard web requests like GET and POST. Responses are usually in JSON.

Why it matters for your business

REST APIs are widely supported and easy to integrate with, which makes connecting your system to partners, apps and automation tools straightforward.

Example

A GET request to /orders/1042 returns the order's items and status, and a POST to /orders creates a new one.
