What is Product information management (PIM)?

Product information management (PIM) is the practice, and the software, used to collect, enrich and manage product data such as descriptions, specifications, images and translations in one central place. A PIM system then publishes that data consistently to websites, marketplaces, catalogs and other sales channels.

Why it matters for your business

Accurate, consistent product data reduces returns and manual copying between systems, and lets teams launch new products or channels much faster as the catalog grows.

Example

A parts distributor with 20,000 SKUs moves product data from spreadsheets into a PIM, so updated specifications appear on its website, marketplace listings and printed catalog at the same time.
