What is Key performance indicator (KPI)?

A key performance indicator is a measurable value that shows how well a business, team or process is meeting an important goal. Good KPIs are few, clearly defined and tracked over time.

Why it matters for your business

Clear KPIs focus attention on what matters and make dashboards useful, instead of crowded with numbers nobody acts on.

Example

A support team tracks first-response time and customer satisfaction as its two KPIs, shown on a dashboard that updates every hour.
