What is General ledger?

A general ledger is the central record of all a company's financial transactions, organized by the accounts in its chart of accounts. Every sale, purchase, payment and adjustment eventually posts to it, and it is the source for the balance sheet and income statement.

Why it matters for your business

An accurate, up-to-date general ledger is the basis for trustworthy financial reports, audits and tax filings, and ERP automation reduces the manual entries that cause errors.

Example

When a customer invoice is posted in the ERP, entries automatically hit the receivables and revenue accounts in the general ledger, so finance sees the impact the same day.
