What is Data lake?

A data lake is a low-cost store that keeps large volumes of raw data in its original format, from structured tables to files, logs and images. Data is shaped when it is needed rather than when it is stored.

Why it matters for your business

A data lake keeps everything your business produces, so future analytics and AI projects have history to learn from, while a warehouse holds the cleaned data used for everyday reporting.

Example

Years of raw web logs and support transcripts sit in a data lake until a churn model needs them for training.
